Curve 8900 Theme: Stock Weather Today

For Stock Weather Today I stuck to the stock look as much as possible, but also added a few very useful enhancements:
  • The icon in the top left is your 7th icon from your main applications screen and is intended to be used for your Weather app.
  • If you select the Time/Date area it will open your Clock.
  • I added a Today area with your 2 upcoming appointments and 2 new messages.
Note: If you don't have a weather application yet I recommend WeatherEye. You can download WeatherEye for free direct to your Blackberry at: http://blackberry.theweathernetwork.com/
Here are some screenshots, click on them to see them full size

Why not use the Today application in plazmic instead of fixing the icons on the screen? When you scroll over the mess or cal icons, the text appears and when not in use, the are hidden. That way if someone only uses lets say messages, then they will not have the unused calendar icon sitting on there homepage.

  2. @ Anonymous,

I created a Today Plus (what you are describing) version for the 9000 and the first comment I got was asking for a Today version (like this theme), now I create this Today version for the 8900 and the first comment is you asking for a Today Plus version.

Haha, I can't win. Anyways yes, I plan on creating a Today version for the 9000 and a Today Plus version for the 8900.

  8. Dylan - This is the #1 theme on my list.Freaking awesome! I just slip between this Stock Weather Todat Theme of yours and my 2nd favorite is the Android Theme which I have.

Btw, a small request. Is it possible to have a scroll effect of the docked icons below. Basically something like your Today Scroll with some 10 icons back and forth, keeping everthing else intact ofcourse! It would be awesome my friend!

I love one thing about this theme, you haven't changed the fonts and the font is user selectable!! which is great and I like it that way! Please always mae with default fonts, it would be great! God Bless!! I will await your response.

    Thanks again my friend.

Thank you so much for this most elegant,
smart and awesome theme. After searching on the net for the longest time I finally found the theme that makes sense and is practical too. This has to be the #1
theme on the net. RIM should pick it as their default theme for the 8900.

  11. This THEME ROCKS. I was wondering if you had any plans to or could possibly make one without the today entries. Basically just take out the calendar and messages sections. That would be perfect for me. I keep my kids on my wallpaper and like to be able to see them. And MAYBE possibly some smaller home screen icons? :)

I love the stock weather theme! I have been looking for this type of setup and no one ever came close. Great job and thank you! All I need to keep up with my busy life.

I have just two questions. Where is the phone Icon? How can I change the Icon on the top left of the screen?

    ReplyDelete
  13. AnonymousJune 05, 2009

The icon on the top left should be the 7th icon in your application list counting from left to right. The 7th icon would be your top left icon on home screen.

    Hope that helps. Thanks

That helps! Thanks. Any recommendations for a weather app?

  15. @ Anonymous, you don't like the Weather App I meantion and linked in the actual theme post?

  16. @ Anonymous -- If your looking for a nice clean weather app that works well with this theme. You might try BBWeather -- I dont feel comfortable posting links in someone else's space w/o permission, so just google "tateu bbweather" it will be the first post.

Thank you for this great theme, I have had this one for a while and it would definitely stay there if it would be with hidden Today feature. My company provides a 3rd party app for email integration (NotifyLink) so the message section for BB messages is mostly empty for me.
Any chance this will be coming?

I've had the 8900 for a week, tried a bunch of themes, and this one is my favorite so far. One little problem I have with the weather icon, however...

Text associated with the weather icon on the home/today screen does not get updated unless/until I hit the menu button (to bring up the full icon screen), then go back to the home/today screen. Know what I mean? Am I doing something wrong?

  27. Hi, I love this theme, but have just a couple of small requests...

    1. Can you put a semi-transparent layer under the top section (see the default Bold Theme for an example of this). This helps text visibility on light backgrounds. I have a background that is mostly white, so it is hard to see the time at a glance without having to select the center section first.

    2. Is it possible to have my background show up on the menu screens as well?

Thanks and keep up the great work!

  30. Dear Dylan

    WHAT A GREAT PAGE!!

I've just moved over from the 8800 to the Bold 9000 and REALLY miss my BB Dimension Zen theme with icons just down the left; it's a sober theme. Can you make EXACTLY the same theme for the Bold 9000, please?

    Many thanks
